For over 60 years, H B Gelatt devoted his time to writing about his approach to decision making \u2013 Positive Uncertainty. H B proposed that we be uncertain about what we see yet positive about the uncertainty because it makes us more open-minded and receptive to new ways of seeing things. And it provides opportunity for doing different things. <\/p>\n

Carol Casey Gelatt<\/h2>\n

Carol brings over 35 years of business leadership experience to her work as an executive coach and organizational consultant. Prior to co-founding Gelatt Partners with her husband H B in 2001, Carol spent six years in executive roles with two VC-funded Internet companies. She served as Vice President of Marketing and University Relations and executive team member for eProNet, an online recruiting and career services business for alumni of 20 top U.S. universities, originally founded by the Stanford Alumni Association. Prior to eProNet, Carol was a founding executive team member and Vice President of Content Development for MindSteps, the first to develop web-based enterprise assessment and development planning software for Fortune 500 companies. Before joining MindSteps, Carol spent 13 years with Drake Beam Morin, a worldwide leader in change and transition consulting for Fortune 500 companies, including as founding Managing Director of DBM\u2019s Silicon Valley office and Senior Vice President of DBM Training & Consulting. She holds a B.A. in psychology and sociology from the University of Colorado Boulder, M.S. in counseling from San Francisco State University and certifications in the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and the Center for Creative Leadership’s Benchmarks, Executive Dimensions and 360 by Design. A third-generation Californian, Carol is an avid cook, gardener, skier and walker.<\/p>\n

H B Gelatt<\/h2>\n

For over 60 years H B Gelatt was regarded as an expert in decision making. Most notably he was the author of the book Future Sense: See the Forest and the Trees<\/a> and the blog Positive Uncertainty: The Benefit of Doubt and Danger of Dogma<\/a>. H B\u2019s career encompassed a range of distinguished activities. He was Senior Research Scientist for the American Institutes for Research, Special Consultant and Trainer for the National and California Occupational Information Coordinating Committees, the College Board and the Kellogg Foundation Adult Learning Project. H B was a columnist for The Systems Thinking and Chaos Theory Newsletter and frequent keynote speaker to professional groups and organizations throughout the United States, Canada and Japan. Earlier in his career, H B was Director of Guidance and the Professional Renewal Program for the Palo Alto Unified School District. H B holds doctoral and master\u2019s degrees in counseling psychology from Stanford University and a bachelor\u2019s degree in psychology from San Jose State University. There was much more to H B than his career and passion for decision making. The other loves of his life were his family, friends, walking, eating Carol\u2019s cooking, reading, writing his blog, music, spectator sports (especially the Golden State Warriors, SF Giants, SF 49ers and Stanford football, basketball and baseball) and the continuous reinvention of H B. He died unexpectedly of a heart attack on June 3, 2021.<\/p>\n
